21st century is an age of knowledge and economy, the universal person reveals his unique status and value in this time. Now our country has joined WTO smoothly, reform and openness has entered a new world,"Diversification of economy, diversification of living and diversification of human's development"are the Characteristics of the times, and they appear to be more and more obvious day by day. The pace of reform in the elementary education is all the quicker, the multicultural tide is coming towards us, the traditional life style and thinking of mode of the nation are under the unprecedented impact. How should the education face the multiplex social life? How should it face the request of the times which the human's multiplex development makes? How does the classroom teaching provide the high quality service for the student's multiplex development? Some sagacious figures in theoretical and practical circles carried on the positive and effective exploration of these core problems in modern teaching. The new turn of curriculum reforms in the elementary education has sounded the clarion call, quality oriented education in our country has set the general aim to train universal persons.Elementary school stage is the most foundational level in the whole academic educational system, its enlightenment to students decides its vital significance in the course of the human's development. At this stage no other subjects can compare with the Chinese education, and the Chinese education cannot be substituted in the aspect of forming the Chinese accomplishment and the humanistic accomplishment which students will enjoy in the whole life, the function of it is comprehensive, the content of the language teaching is multiplex, the forms of it are varied, the objects of it are full of individuality. These essential attributes and objective requests decide that the modern Chinese teaching is surely a multidimensional and interaction like progress, what is called stereo metric teaching is the one that establish an open and multidimensional space and give"people-oriented", multidimensional and interactive like teaching activities.Chinese Criteria of Full-time Compulsory Education proposes explicitly that elementary school Chinese should devote itself to the formation and development of student's language accomplishment. And students master the basic knowledge of words, phrases, sentences and articles and the basic skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students obtain the main method of Chinese study and have a good habit and interest of it, then the language accomplishment formers and develops. So this accomplishment is stereoscopic and multidimensional.Among them interest, habit, method, ability, mind and emotion are formed in the progress of language study. So word is the essence. Vocabulary is the building material of language, and any language study is based on a certain number of vocabularies. If we don't absorb and internalize the vocabulary, the promotion of Chinese accomplishment seems empty and pale. In Chinese Criteria teaching method changes from"four capabilities"(capability to know, capability to write, capability to speak, capability to use)to"capability to read, capability to write", And these criteria require students to know the meaning of a word in linguistic environment and gradually be able to use it in oral and written expressions, at the same time they require teachers not to use a lot of time for students to copy and rented the annotations. Seemingly they lighten the burden of most Chinese teaches. However, ponder deeply; don't they set a higher standard of words and expressions teaching in teaching idea and method? They require teachers to abandon the idea that they are the care of teaching but think how to promote student's all-around development in the position of students."stereoscopic"teaching of words and expressions does an active research on the problems above.This article explains the STWE in six parts. The first part is the outline, it expounds the basic connotation and function of"words and expressions"from linguistics and the basic connotation of"words and expressions teaching"and STWE from pedagogy. The second part is the basis of implementing STWE, it explains the importance of STWE from the requirements that Chinese Criteria has to the teaching of words and expressions, and it expounds the necessity for STWE from the erroneous zone of words and expressions teaching and the cause analysis. The third part is the analysis of model and connotation of STWE, this part builds STWE from longitudinal progression, latitudinal relation and stereoscopic development. The fourth part is the operator shame of STWE, it mentions the five common modes below:"linguistic environment-feel","vividness-imagine","direct-view-understand","comparison-discriminate","mistake-rectify","accumulation-use".The fifth part is the principles of STWE, it tells than words and expressions should obey"the principle of integrity","the principle of situation","the principle of vividness"and"the principle of linearization". The sixth part is the report of STWE. The seventh part is the concluding remarks, it points out than words and expressions teaching and pay close attention to the leading role of them.
