Along with the rapid development of information technology, Network, as"the fourth communication media"preceded with newspaper, broadcast, and television, penetrates into every aspect of social life day by day. Since the institutions of higher learning are one of the places with the highest degree of social informationization, higher education there, especially the ideological and political education is inevitably influenced by the informationized society. Integrating Internet into the ideological and political education will definitely bring new opportunities and challenges to the innovation of the ideological and political education. How to effectively develop and enforce the ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning in the Information and Network Age has become an extremely urgent and arduous subject.In order to resolve this subject, reasonable answers towards the following questions are needed: What is the relationship between the Network, as"the fourth communication media", and the ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning? What function does the Network construction play on the ideological and political education in institutions of higher learning? How to guarantee the positive interaction between these two elements?
