This essay is intended to conduct some practical research into the subject of simple robot design in the category of general technology in senior high schools in order to set up a suitable and proper system of assessment on the curriculum of simple robot design in the experimental school.The curriculum of simple robot design was adopted to the curriculum system after the new curriculum reform. As a result of this, the research on the respective assessment is rather shallow, compared to those on other subjects in middle schools. Therefore, this research is aimed at the assessment of the students in terms of the curriculum of simple robot design. Through the research we hope to set up a system of assessment in general techniques about the technical skills and emotional attitude.The research is connected with 27 volunteers from those who take the optional class of simple robot design and who show strong interest in robots.All the data from the research will include quantitative analysis of tests and qualitative analysis and also include self assessment from the students and the assessments from teachers and their classmates. Self-assessment, classmates' assessment and teachers' assessment have the same weight, which is quite different from the conventional method in which only teachers give their assessment based on the results of tests and the students performances. Hopefully this will lead to a more reliable and scientific assessment. A special website will be set up for easy collection of data and easy access to analysis. From the web site, students can learn about the current result of self-assessment and the assessment from their classmates. Teachers will find it convenient to synthesize the relevant data.This research will reveal the fact that students' interest in the subject will be aroused to a considerably large extent, and it will be of great benefit to correct self-recognition, self assessment and proper assessment of their fellow students. It will also show that this kind of assessment will somehow relieve the teachers from the work of assessment so that the teachers will devote more time and energy to their teaching. However, in the process of assessment, teachers instruction and guide are quite necessary, in order to prevent over- assessments. Thus, some limitations are to set on over-assessment in the assessment project.
