Freedom is an ancient and eternal topic. Karl Marx sums up human's common character as the free and conscious activity. The freedom concludes in how to make choices when it turns into human's different kinds of practice. The choice of freedom means self-consciousness which is the key character of human's independent existence. People have the freedom of choice and shape themselves by choosing. As long as people live, they must make choices from time to time. No freedom is infinite. And the freedom of choice does not mean 'guided only by will', which is a kind of 'freedom with responsibility' which means when people make choices and determination by themselves, they should undertake their responsibility. Freedom of choice and responsibility are inextricably linked. The freedom of choice is the premise of responsibility, while the responsibility is the inherent meaning of the freedom of choice.People can shape themselves by choosing. If all the people are predestined and all the development of people follows the certain orbit, then there is no necessity of moral education. Responsibility is a basic moral quality for people. It is not only a necessary condition of being an individual, but also an indispensable condition for the harmonious development of society. Therefore, building and enhancing the students' sense of responsibility should become the focus of moral education. The traditional moral education attaches importance to instilling knowledge, which limits the freedom of choice. Meanwhile in the responsibility education people have not received the desirable effect. In order to handle the relation of responsibility and the freedom of choice correctly to make them unified people need to change the traditional moral education, insist the essence, value and practice principle of moral education. People should emphasize the initiative of teachers and clarify the freedom and the responsibility of the teachers, create educational scene to enter students' real lives and help them to choose and undertake responsibilities. At the same time, teachers must integrate different kinds of educational factors and exert various educational strengths. In short, modern moral education must not only fully respect students' freedom of choice and awaken their awareness of choice, but also enhance the sense of responsibility to make students know how to choose, how to undertake responsibilities, and become real moral subject.
