Information is the main feature of the contemporary society with the development of the technology. The age of electronic media begins, which gradually deprives us of the classics reading authority and changes our Chinese reading teaching system. The three distinct characteristic features of the current high school students' reading situation are: sensibility of the aesthetic pursuits; individualization of the value orientation; marginalization of classics reading. On one hand, electronic reading marked by its speed and diversity, is the tendency cherished by teenagers .On the other hand, we should keep up our reading interest and maintain our reading habit, for language is the hometown of our life. However, the traditional Chinese reading teaching has been away from the current students' reading situation. How to involve Chinese reading teaching into the age of electronic media and how to dig out the abundant value in the texts are the problems to be settled for us Chinese teachers. This essay focuses on Chinese reading teaching in the age of electronic media. I have tried out some teaching approaches on Chinese reading teaching in both class teaching and after class instruction, including aesthetic reading ; self -reading; creative reading and comparative reading so as to guide students in classics reading and arouse their sympathy with our passion . In this way are we able to fit in popular reading with classic reading.
