Female Students "de Facto" Sociology Of Education

Cohabitation of college students in this thesis refers to those relatively stable sex relationships between one male student and one female student. They live together voluntarily neither for marriage nor for profit. In essence, it is non-marital sex relation.As the economic reform and open policy are carried forward, our traditional culture is greatly challenged by western culture. In the past several years, cohabitation of college students has become an acceptable phenomenon as well as a debatable topic. We should not simply take it as an issue of romantic love, since it is a social phenomenon with in-depth reasons. For those female students involved in habitation, we should give them more care and concern.Combining with the sign interaction theory in sociology, the method of qualitative study is taken in this thesis. Four female students' case are revealed including their family background, history of cohabited life, their thoughts and feeling. Through an in depth analyzing, this thesis not only summarizes the social impacts on them but also presents personal suggestions.Conclusions:1. The reasons that cause those female students to cohabit are complicated, regarding different cases, the main influencing factors are not the same: A: in order to seek for the father's love; B: in order to retain her lover; C: only simply wants to live with the man she loved; D: choose cohabitation with a fashionable mentality. It can be seen from it that cohabitation of female college students are influenced by social environment, family ,school education, peer groups and so on, and the interaction of the above elements. Finally, the article analyses the reasons of female college students unmarried cohabitation combining the sign interaction theory, in the view of self-interaction, parent-child interaction in family situation, and peer groups interaction in the context of school.2. It's true that cohabitation can satisfy the psychological and physical need of those female students, but on the other hand, there are many negative impact on them regarding health, study and social relationship.3. The phenomenon of cohabitation reflects the following two problems: one, sex education by both school and family is not enough. Two, the female students have little understanding of cohabitation. To solve these, we suggest that the college and family take special measures to enhance the sex education; strengthen the exchanges and communication with female college students. And the female students should hold up the right philosophy of life, love and marriage, and choose a proper way of life.
