In the comtemporary world, dialogue has an influence on all fields of society. As a reflection of the spirit of the times, dialogue is bound to be connected with classroom instruction, forming a new teaching method-dialogue teaching, which completely differs from monologue ( a traditional common teaching method). Dialogue teaching is what respects students'individuality,trains their creativity and centers on seeking for humanity as well. With the guidance of the new geography curriculum concept and with reference to some concerned theories and research achievements of other subjects, this essay focuses on dialogue teaching in geography classroom in senior middle schools, pointing out that the traditional method can not adapt to the curriculum innovation and that improvement is a must.This essay is based on the dialogue teaching in geography and its related theories. It places emphasis on the problems of two aspects.One is teacher-to-student and student-to-student talk with the characteristic of speaking and the other is student-to-textbook and student-to-himself talk with the characteristic of non-speaking. Meanwhile, it analyzes the causing reasons in terms of classroom environment, teachers'personal qualities, students'levels and the materials of textbooks. After careful observation, record and analysis, it also makes several suggestions on how to carry out dialogue teaching in geography classroom.
