Role Of Parents In Urban Primary School After-school Learning

This paper is the result about the role of elementary school student's parents in their child' study after class, emphasizes on the different types of roles and the causes of roles. This paper also gives suggestions to parents, teachers and schools on this research.This article acquires perceptual materials by adopting method of interviewing parents and students respectively, then gives a run-through of the main types of the role of elementary school student's parents in their child's study after class. The author interviews parents and students by sending questionnaires to different types of elementary school in Nanjing. Based on collecting and analyzing acquired information, this paper makes clear the reason for forming the role, and gives relative suggestions in the end.Research finds that current parents set great store by their child's full development and study performance. They wish to take part in their child's study after class, and to help them to complete study mission of high quality. But different parents play the different role in the elementary school student's study after class. Researchers divide the parents' role contain "teacher", "parent", "classmate", "friend", "governor", "on-looker" six types. Data shows that percentage of "friend" role is the biggest, "teacher" is secondly, and "on-looker" is the minimal. The different instruct way cause their different role in the elementary school student's study after class.By analysis and thinking about the role formation reason to the parent, researchers put forward a suggestion for parents, teacher and school respectively. The elementary school student's study after class should promote the learning efficiency of the child; The role of the parents play part in the study after class should diversification. Teachers should pay attention to the parents' guide about their role in study after class while communicating with parents; The school sets up a specialized course in the parents school and guide the parents to play suitable role in child's study after class.
