Republican Period Huangyanpei On The Contribution To Vocational Education (1912-1937),

Huang Yanpei is one of the most famous pioneers and theorists of vocational education in modern China. He dedicated his whole life to vocational education and advocated the reform in teaching methods and curriculums of the old-fashioned education, which was not practical to use and was divorced from real life and production. He contributed greatly to the establishment of vocational education in line with the national conditions of China. Huang Yanpei' s thought of vocational education had gone through three development processes of Pragmatic Education, Vocational Education and Extensive Vocational Education, which had its own system. He integrated theory with practice from the beginning of the formation, and founded Chinese Vocational Education Society and Chinese Vocational School in Shanghai, which promoted and publicized vocational education. Ideas of vocational education had a long lasting market in the Period of the Republic of China, and produced a profound effect upon changes in the educational structure. China had gradually established a comprehensive system of vocational education at that time. Huang Yanpei' s activities of vocational education mainly relied on Chinese Vocational Education Society to carry out, which played an important role in promoting, publicizing, testing and improving vocational education.This paper attempts to study Huang Yanpei' s thought of vocational education from a new point of view. In vertical time sequence for clues, it expounds how to emerge, develop, and complete on Huang Yanpei' s thought of vocational education. In horizontal space sequence for coordinates, the paper studies Huang Yanpei' s thought of vocational education by expounding changes in the education system of the Republic of China and the activities of Chinese Vocational Education Society, which played an important role in promoting changes in the educational structure. The prominent feature of the article is to grasp Huang Yanpei' s thought of vocational education by combining the theory and reform of the education system, from changes in the education system as a whole and the overall perspective. In recent years, Chinese vocational education is developing rapidly, and plays an important role in national economic development, enterprise personnel training and employment. Huang Yanpei' s thought of vocational education provides the experience and inspiration for today's vocational education.
