Chongqing City Vocational High School Students Career Planning

There is an increasing number of graduates in China with the continuous expansion of enrolment of colleges and universities during the last ten years.And higher vocational graduates of Chongqing city are confronted with a severe employment situation because of the imbalance between supply and need,the employment market shrinkage caused by international financial storm and the inaccordance of their employment concept with the current situation,which reflects the lack of career planning and the delay in the work of it.This paper tends to do research on the career planning of higher vocational students of Chongqing city to promote the work of it.Based on the line of theory,reasons and countermeasures,this paper,firstly,discusses the career planning of students in respect to theory,and then analyzes the problems of it in Chongqing city;and,finally,puts forward some countermeasures in dealing with it.Followed is the conclusion:1.College students' career planning aims at establishing their career directions and goals, choosing their career orientations,setting up their education programs(especially in colleges or universities) and development programs,and making a schedule to achieve their goals by means of understanding for themselves and external environment.2.For higher vocational students of Chongqing city,there exists a clear inadequacy of career planning,which displays in the following aspects,such as the lack of planning awareness,unclear career goal,inaccuracy of self-cognition,insufficient preparation for employment and incorrect orientation of value as well as their weak practical abilities,owing to the fact of not high quality of them,inadequacy of instruction of colleges or universities,the tie of traditional ideas and obstacles of system and mechanism.3.The improvement of career planning for higher vocational students of Chongqing city depends on multiple efforts among society,colleges or universities and students themselves.In terms of society,a planning awareness needs to be established in accordance with the time;in terms of colleges or universities,a course system for career planning needs to be perfected and teaching staff construction to be strengthened;and in terms of students themselves,their awareness and ability for self-cognition,their comprehensive qualities and their professional skills to be enhanced to reveal the effectiveness of career planning.
