According to linguistic theory,the word is the fundamental unit of language.Words reflect the developments of language and society and also symbol the breadth and depth of people's knowledge to the objective world.As far as some language is concerned,the richer its vocabulary is,the richer the language is,so does its ability to express.In Chinese, word is the smallest union of pronunciation and meaning,which can be use independently. From word teaching,we can help our pupils to learn and accumulate a great deal of vocabulary,so we should attach importance to word teaching.However,the present situation is not so optimistic.There are many problems to be solved,which should be given enough attention.Based on the consideration given above,in the thesis,I discuss the importance of word teaching,examine the historical development of word teaching after the foundation of the People's Republic of China and analyze the present situation by means of historic research,comparative research and literature research.By the analysis of the questionnaire, we can know a lot about the degree that students master the word,probe into the basic means to teach word,and then put forward the appropriate tactic.So we can go into deep research to the word teaching in primary school and harvest some enlightenment to the word teaching practice in primary school.There are three parts in this thesis:Introduction:elaborate the current situation that the Chinese teaching in primary school pay more attention to content comprehension and humanity realization but ignore the comprehension and utilization.Firstly,word teaching:in this part,I mainly discuss the importance of word teaching, the research of the history of word teaching after the founding of the People's Republic of China and the delimitation of the relative concept,etc.In terms of the importance of word teaching,I implore the importance of the mastery of word in langue,parole and relative subjects and the importance of word teaching in Chinese teaching.In the research of the history of word teaching after the founding of the People's Republic of China,I focus on the 1950s,the 1960s,the 1970s,the 1980s,the 1990s and the new century.I probe into the aims,content and methods of word teaching in every stage.Besides,I also carry through some definition to some relative concepts,such as word,word teaching,tactics and teaching tactics etc.Secondly,the current situation of word teaching in Chinese in primary school: nowadays,the word teaching in Chinese in primary school is not so optimistic.Although curriculums and syllabuses of different times all refer to word teaching,the attention we pay to it is not enough.Besides,the problem of vocabulary hasn't been solved,and we haven't had a decent pupil glossary.In the discussion of the current situation of the word teaching practice,I attach importance to the teaching notion and teaching behavior.In the present situation of word teaching behavior,I mainly elaborate the following questions:the lack of concrete environment in word teaching,the free development of students but the absence of the leading role of the teacher,the shortage of the practice for using,the drawback of the word teaching method,the short of the exploration of the cultural tradition, and the disjunction to the development of the student's body and mind.In the analysis of the degree how students master the word,I primarily analyze students' using of the pronunciation,morphology and meaning of the word according to the questionnaire.Thirdly,the tactics of word teaching in Chinese in primary school:the focuses of this part are on the present situation of the word teaching,the problems raised in the questionnaire and the corresponding tactics.In first section,I mention the basic method of the word teaching,doing a good job in class and out of class to promote the students to learn and accumulate words efficiently;in second section,the focuses are on the word teaching tactics which are raised basing on the following theories:the context theory, character study,theoretical thinking,the theory of multiple intelligence,the group block theory,constructivism,etc.
