The CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued the View of Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Education in Chinese universities on October 14, 2004. It said that "we must adhere to people-oriented, close to reality, life, and the students, strive to improve pertinence, effectiveness and attractiveness, infectivity of the ideological and political education. Cultivate socialist builders and successors featuring an all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art." This is a new work requirement for ideological and political education in colleges. Pondering the current ideological and political education, we college students can find that our education is away from reality, because of the influence of our history and traditional culture. It exposed many problems both in theory and practice. In order to improve the effectiveness of ideological and political education, and meet the need of the new situations of the 21st century, many researchers and practitioners make researches in different angles. Many scholars have turned their attention to life. Life oriented of ideological and political education has been generally recognized through years of research and exploration. Since the ideological and political education is so important, as well as the life oriented of ideological and political education in Chinese universities is in a start-up phase of research, this article will try to focus on this field. This article is composed of four parts, Part I, analyzes the rich connotation of the life oriented of ideological and political education based on definition of life. Part II, discusses the reasoning of life oriented of ideological and political education, and analyzes the ideological and political education is reasonable from both theoretical and practical aspects. Part III, focuses on the problems in ideological and political education, such as idealized, educated and so on, and analyzes the causes of these problems. Part IV, show the way to construct life oriented of ideological and political education, from the goals, contents, channels and the evaluation systems. Conclusion of the full text, summarizes the main content and opinion of this article briefly, and points out the deficiencies that exist in writing, the direction of future efforts.
