Homework, which is an indispensable factor to understand, to consolidate and to use the knowledge learned in class, has a close relationship with classroom teaching. At the same time, homework is a useful method to develop and improve students'self-learning competence, and it can help students form some good qualities. Therefore, homework is a key factor in teaching. The new curriculum reform influences all aspects of the education, which is also reflected in homework design. The thesis, based on the theories of Constructivist Learning Theory, Cognitive Theory, the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Vygotsky's"Zone of Proximal Development", Dewey's Learning by Doing, and the new curriculum's beliefs of people-oriented and combined the current problems in homework design with the experience abroad and at home, creates a chemistry homework design model for high middle schools. The aim of the new model is to develop students'qualities and promote students'overall development. According to the model, the homework should have following characteristics in the context of the new curriculum reform: diverse, contextual and practical which can be shown in the following figure. Based on this model, the author proposed this strategy of homework design:entirety, multi-level and multi-function. Besides, some cases of homework design are provided and analyzed in order to give some references to some chemistry teachers and make the new curriculum reform go smoothly.
