Mathematics experiment is a highlight of the new course criterion in middle schools because the old mathematics experiment model just limits itself to the use of some teaching aids or computer teaching courseware and lacks students'participation as well, While new course criterion puts an emphasis on the importance of students'participation and mathematics experimental class, so the research on maths experiment class comes to emerge as a new issue. How can we carry out the new maths experiment class effectively in senior high middle school, especially in comprehensive high middle school? How can we avoid repeating its old patterns and also make it different from that of other subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology? Based on those questions in me, I am trying to discuss a new teaching model and also analyze its feasibility and availability in this article.First of all, a theoretical study is conducted on mathematics experiment and its relevant works and documents, then the status quo of maths teaching in high school is analyzed and some existing problems are pointed out here. After that, some practical research work is done and the conclusion is drawn out of questionnaires and teaching practice. Finally, the summary on theoretical and practical study mentioned above is made and reflections and suggestions are put forward.The conclusions and innovative points:1. Experimental teaching model. Three teaching models are given here based on teaching practice: operating type of maths experiment course (including validating experiment design and understanding experiment design), thinking type of maths experiment course and computer simulating type of maths experiment course. The relating cases are given to further demonstrate each model, among which case No. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 are newly born, which feature the new teaching course book and highlight the special features of maths experiment course. Case No. 8 is about the creative improvement of the course book and enhances the experimental efficiency with the help of computers. In the meantime the teaching of Sequence and Arithmetic are combined together for the aim of comprehensive application.2. The important factor of maths experiment course: proper evaluation system. The proper evaluation system is illustrated in this article as a combination of cooperative learning and encouragement system. The result is given according to his/her performance in different aspect, instead of just considering whether the experiment results are close to its real value. Some other creative evaluation methods gained from the teaching practice over the past year are also introduced here.3. The feasibility and availability of maths experiment course. The study and analysis of each cases, phased examinations and the questionnaires conducted at the end of each semester shows that experiment course is effective in advancing students maths learning and it is feasible and necessary to carry out maths experiment course in middle schools.
