With the development of educational thinking and teaching theories, an increasing number of teachers and educators start to pay close attention to and take an active part in the research and practice of "the Affective Education". However, the application of "the Affective Education" in maths in senior high school is not satisfactionary although the goal of "affection, attitudes and values" have become one of three goals in the second phase of the curriculum reform in Shanghai. The dissertation argues that the teacher's negligence in researching the affective factors in textbooks is one of the main causes of the current situation. In order to change the situation, the writer lays stress on exploring and displaying the three major affective factors—the sense of rationality, the sense of aesthetics and the sense of morality embodied in the new maths textbooks by comparing the previous textbooks with the new textbooks. By analysing three teaching cases and the empirical research, this dissertation suggests that teachers can may a significant role in "the Affective Education" if they research the textbooks, experience, utilize and foster affection of the students. This dissertation aims to help teachers to realize the importance of deeply analysing the affective factors in the textbooks while applying "the affective teaching", thus enabling them to invest more energy in it. This dissertaion also aims to give impetus to the new teaching and curriculum reform.
