Shanghai College Counselors Team Building Research

According to "Shanghai 2008 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Bulletin", there are 61 colleges and universities and 5 Independent Colleges in Shanghai by the end of 2008, and the number of college students were up to 502,900. Shanghai, as an international metropolis, has such a huge number of students who are influencing by a variety of ideas and cultures that we can imagine how difficult the student work will be. College counselors are the main force in the field of ideological and political education, and continuously strengthen the college counselor team is the effective way and basic guarantee for good students'management. Therefore, the efforts of selection, training and building a excellent political counselor team who have steady position, good business skills, comprehensive quality, spirit of dedication and strong ability has become a very important task.In this paper, author has absorbed and drawn on existing results, researching from 12 colleges and universities in Shanghai, collecting there rich experiences in building counselor's experience, and finally summed up the theories for the establishment and development of counselors'team. After analyzing the current problems in the way of building Shanghai College counselors'team, author has put some practical suggestions. This article is divided into seven parts:The first part is introduction, describes the background, defines the concept, presents the study at home and abroad, and sums up the significance of this article as well as innovations.The second part of this article reviewed the history of counselors, sums up the theories for the establishment and development of counselor team, and identifies the importance to build counselor team from political part with ideological view.The third part, in the way of spot surveys, interviews and other methods, author collects a lot of information about counselor, and summarizes experiences gained in building counselor team in colleges and universities in Shanghai.The fourth part, discusses the evolution and characteristics of student affairs management models in American colleges and universities, and thus derives for the references.The fifth part, analyzes the collected information, to identify the problems in the way of building Shanghai college counselor team.The sixth part puts forward a series of countermeasures according to the problems listing above.The seventh part is conclusion, a brief summary of this thesis.
