The New High School Chinese Teaching Course Criterion (The New Criterion) has already been in use. It mainly features designing Chinese class teaching in three-dimension. It lays special emphasis on humanism and student-centered teaching activities. It pays great attention to students'personal experiences and advocates independent, cooperative and exploratory learning method. It aims at improving the whole students'comprehension of the Chinese language. In comparison with the traditional teaching method, the New Criterion is a big revolution.The New Criterion sets out the poem teaching aims. When learning a poem, students need to be taught to get the general idea, to have the poetic conception and to understand the poet's true feelings, so after learning it students should be inspired and encouraged by the fine works to pursue a better life and their ideals.The New Criterion points out the fact that learning is a personalized activity and should not be teacher-centered but student-centered. Students should be encouraged to be active learners in class to experience, to explore, to think and to understand, and thus they can have the aesthetic appreciation of the fine works.The New Criterion says that to achieve the three-dimensional teaching aims and to form a complete Chinese teaching system, Chinese teachers should alter teaching from focusing on language learning to focusing on students'all-round development.While designing class teaching, we Chinese teachers should first have a good knowledge of the teaching materials and analyze them deeply and combine knowledge teaching and ability and attitude training together. We should not forget to show concern for human life and human development. In the process of teaching we should have a good balance between teaching knowledge and caring for students'overall development. Thus we can achieve our aims of helping students to develop in their emotions, attitudes, and values.
