After more than ten years' development, higher vocational education that is an important part of General higher education still exists some problems. Along with outline of the national long-term education reform and development plan and the upcoming of the 12th five-year plan, the higher vocational education will face new opportunities and challenges. Higher vocational colleges in promoting better survival and development, the teacher incentive is an effective method. Because of the higher vocational teachers' motivation to improve work efficiency and enhance teachers team construction so as to improve the comprehensive competitiveness of higher vocational colleges. I work in higher vocational colleges for more than ten years, and I think the research on higher vocational teachers incentive has theory value and practical significance.This paper firstly gives the definition of need and incentive. After the review on existing important incentive theory, it analyzed from the theoretical perspective of higher vocational teachers' motivation and the necessity of the existing shortage of incentive, then leads to a research topic. Insufficient incentive is mainly manifested in the design of democracy's weakness, motivation for lack of incentive policy analysis of teachers' psychological needs, encouraging innovation and implementation of relatively lags the initiative enough and incentives bias.Using the method of documentary,questonaire and interview method, comparison research method, etc. In the specific conditions of Shaanxi Vocational & Technical College,it does an empirical research. Analysis of the teacher's need level and different types of teacher's needs, and material incentive.Based on the work in higher vocational college, this paper puts forward the principles and Suggestions on vocational teachers' motivation. Higher vocational teachers must pay attention to follow the principle of fair and objective, principle of incentives according to the needs, both positive and negative incentive combination of the principles, the principle of the organic combination of incentive factors, organizational objectives and personal interest balance principle. Teachers in material incentive to do with spiritual incentive combination, expand democracy, enhance the motivation of timeliness, and establish incentive elastic incentive mechanism.
