In the turn of the century, with the rapidly developing of the modern information technology, such as the computer technology, the internet technology and the multimedia technology and so on, traditional teaching models haven't been able to meet the needs of Education Information. Education and teaching philosophy, teaching methods, media, contents and environment must be undergoing profound changed. Meanwhile, the new basic education reform puts forward higher requirements for the construction of teachers. As one important component of the teachers' whole qualities, Information Literacy is attracted by educators increasingly. Geography has the unique advantages in training students' collecting, screening, identificating and applicating information. With the rapidly developing of modern information technology, the field of geography study has been steadily broadened, and the pace of the updates of geography information keeps stepping up, the combination of geography information and human life and living environment has also become more compact. As a consequence, higher request is brount up for the Information Literacy of geography teachers.This paper is divided into six parts, which begin with introducing the background of selecting the topic, the present research situation at home and abroad, the purpose of the research, the methods and plans of the research. The second part introduces the related knowledge of Information Literacy and teachers' Information Literacy dentally, basing on which explains the concept of geography teachers'Information Literacy and constructs the structural system of geography teachers' Information Literacy in middle schools, which is devided into four parts including basic Information Literacy, teacher speciality Information Literacy, research Information Literacy and self-development Information Literacy. PartⅢintroduces the survey program of the research. The fourth part introduces the present situation of geography teachers' Information Literacy in middle schools in Jining:the overall status is ideal, but obvious differences are between and within Information Literacy; the self-development Information Literacy and the basic Information Literacy are better, while the teacher profession Information Literacy and the research Information Literacy are worse; In the basic Information Literacy, information consciousness and information ethics are good generally, but information knowledge and information capacity need to be improved; profession Information Literacy is better than geography discipline in the teacher speciality Information Literacy. Handling the survey datas by planty of statistical methods, such as simple descriptive statistics, means multiple comparisons and so on, with SPSS13.0. Basing on the results, the author found the factors which impact the geography teachers' Information Literacy in middle schools, and did attribution-analysis with interviews. PartⅤ, according the analysis results, raises the strategy of training geography teachers' Information Literacy in middle schools from government, school and teachers aspects referring to articles about training teachers' Information Literacy at home and abroad, combining with the characteristic of geography and the facts of Jining. The last part summarizes the research's main results and indicates the direction of further efforts.This paper mainly adopts the combination of documentary analysis, interviews, questionnaire investigations and data statistics. The author tries to provide theoretical support and practical basis for training geography teachers' Information Literacy in middle schools by this research, aiming to improve the quality of geography education and teaching in middle schools and promot the process of Education Information in our country.
