| Modern information technology has been widely applied and made remarkable achievements in education. As an opportunity to the special education, it brings challenges when it is widely used. Special education is an important part of the quality education to the human. Furthermore, it is essential for the process of pushing forward Chinese 21st century modernization. In terms of the characteristics of special education, the research needs the support from high-tech, such as the modern information technology. The using of modern information technology for teaching becomes popular especially in deaf-mute schools.In order to help the hearing-impaired students, to improve language teaching, to change the traditional teacher-centered teaching structure, to create a new type of teaching environment, to help deaf-mutes using internet for their life-long learning, and to improve their abilities to innovate and practice, the author carried out lots of research and practices in language teaching in deaf-mute schools based on the modern information technology.This article shows the results both on theoretical and practice. In the theoretical part, it summarized the concepts and characteristics of special education with the support of modern information technology. Then, according to the physiological characteristics of disabilities and related theory, the article indicates the principles when the modern information technology used in the special education.Based on the theoretical research, the other part of this article, practice, shows the case of special education which designed by the author. In the class, the seasoned teachers use the modern information technology to teach the disabilities. And then, the author gets the advantages and disadvantages of the case based on the response during the class and the feedback of questionnaire after class. At last, the author gives the recommendations of using the modern information technology in special education.The using of modern information technology in language teaching improved the quality of deaf-mute schools' language teaching. Besides, it helps the hearing-impaired students and fosters their information literacy and the ability of using internet for life-long learning. Moreover, the modern information technology makes them return to mainstream society more quickly and enable them involved in the social civilizations and developments. Last but not least, the integration of modern information technology and special education enhance the speed of the deaf-mute education development. |
