In recent years, as changes of China's economic and employment structure, economic and social development need a large number of high-level practical talents, therefore, professional degree education come into being and develop rapidly. However, because its professional degree education is still at an early stage of development, there are many problems to solve in its quality assurance system. in contrast, The United States as the pioneer of professional degree education, firstly bring the professional degree education into play. And people say highly of its quality worldwidely. Therefore, by studying the United States' professional degree education quality assurance system will make us learn from its successful experience to improve quality of our country's professional degree education. So to research quality assurance system of professional degree education have great theoretical and practical significance. at the bank of clarifying the related concepts, the paper mainly discusses the present situation and characteristics of United States's professional degree education quality assurance system. The United States's professional degree education quality assurance system can be divided into the external quality assurance system and internal quality assurance system. The external quality assurance system's distinctive features are:certification system of college qualitification, system of vocational qualification certificate. The United States's certification system of college qualitification not only ensure the overall quality of colleges and universities, but also ensure the each specialty's quality. And the United States's system of vocational qualification certificate is to ensure high-quality professional degree education. The United States'internal quality assurance system has following characteristics:the strict admission requirements and entrance examinations; career-oriented training aims; reasonable course structure; independent learning and cooperative learning course teaching; rigorous academic assessment mechanisms; outstanding practical training; a high level of teacher qualification. At the same time, after nearly 20 years development, China's professional degree education has got following achievement:set up relatively complete administration agencies, established a system of authorization mechanism and subject expert guidance. However, there are also some problems, such as incomplete of external assurance mechanism, weakness of internal assurance mechanisms and other issues. In the end, the paper discusses the methods to improve our country's professional degree education quality assurance system. The author consider that to improve the quality of professional degree education, firstly, university must establish the effective internal quality assurance system, it is the main part of professional degree education quality assurance system. Secondly, external quality assurance system should be established as a supplement external monitoring of government, mechanism of social assessment, macro-control of the government should be enhanced. Finally, establish rules and regulations and formulate policy to improve the legal system. We need to position professional degree accurately, implement the policy of degree and academic integration, and promote graduate education and professional qualification certification system interface actively.
