As the rapid economic development and growing international status of China, the common people had rich material life, and the demand for travel is growing,which promoted the rapid development of China’s hotel industry, especially in the hotel industry as a budget hotel, its emergence and development meet the accommodation needs of tourists and business travelers of domestic and foreign. Since 1996, Jinjiang hotel management group constructed the first economy hotel-Jinjiang inn in China, after several years of rapid development, some international famous brands such as Speed 8, Ibis hotels and domestic famous brank like Hanting hotel have been expanded very fast. A budget hotel chain of each big brand, has been set up in the domestic cities which were first-tier and second-tier cities. The economy hotel speeded up scale expansion.Budget hotels experienced a golden development period, and there were also had some problems. At present, China’s economy hotel development in the area there are uneven phenomenon, the most famous economy hotel brands are mainly distributed in the Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yangtze river and pearl river delta area, in these areas, the economy hotels show saturated state.The market position of Budget hotels is not accurate, the homogenization of serious, limited innovation capacity, lack of professional management talent budget hotels and other issues have hindered the further development of budget hotels. The next three to five years, on the one hand, economy hotel market will be the competition of capital, the development speed of the bout will be given priority to, at the same time, the construction of the hotel brand competition, the quality of service, competitive and comprehensive management ability of competition in the competition will become more and more dominant. Those hotels that the capital power are weak and only pay attention to the size of hotel, will face the fate of mergers, acquisitions.The paper based on analyzing the development status and characteristics China’s budget hotel, and budget hotels in Hangzhou as an example, research the competitive advantages and disadvantages of Hangzhou’s budget hotels development, put forward Hangzhou economy hotel development problems and strategies, to realize the better and faster development of tourism economy.
