With the development of the country, social progress, China’s research funding is substantial growth. However, the OECD statistics show that the input-output level of our research is obviously lower than the world average. One important reason is that risk management is not taken seriously enough in the management process of research, even some risk management exist in name only and did not play any role. So, to pay attention to risk assessment research projects and improve the success rate of research is an urgent matter. This article aims to analyze the specificity of research and risk management, explore suitable and effective risk management methods for research and construct a research model for risk assessment, which makes risk management of research more scientific and the success rate of the development of scientific research guaranteed. Thus, the field of scientific research has been promoted.Firstly, this paper summarizes the basic theory of this thesis, including the basic definition of the risk management process research and risk management, and so on. On this basis, this paper concludes and summarizes the characteristics of scientific research and its risks through literature research, field research and expert advices. Then, it analyzes the particularity of research risk assessment and identifies the risks faced by research projects. Based on field research and the expert advice, this paper constructs index system of risk assessment and uses the Delphi method and AHP combination of subjective weighting method to determine the index weights. Then, we constructed a fuzzy gray comprehensive evaluation model. Finally, use the fuzzy gray comprehensive evaluation model to evaluate the risk of aerospace research projects and the evaluation results demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the model.
