| With the development of supply chain concept, more and more companies realize that modern market competition is no longer a competition between individual enterprises, but a competition between the supply chains. Therefore, SCM draws more and more attention from both industries and academic field. Inventory management is an important part of the supply chain management. However, there is an normal phenomenon that the enterprise are always only concern their own business which results in the amplification of the demand variability. The amplification of the demand variability is also called "bullwhip effect", and it leads to the huge inventory in the supply chain and reduce the whole supply chain’s competitive ability. After that, supply chain theory and VMI theory is introduced. Then we take X company as the research object to research the current inventory mode of operation and analysis of the existing problems, proposed through the implementation of VMI inventory management strategy to improve the feasibility of the programmed and the specific implementation measures, and by comparing the X company implementation of VMI inventory management strategy after the stock index, and revenue qualitative and quantitative analysis of VMI strategy implementation, finally summarizes the benefits.
