With the long-term stable development of Chinese economy, the continuous improvement of living standards and the rapid growth of tourism demand, cruise tourism gradually cause the attention of Chinese tourists. Many domestic port city has been fully realize the great significance construction of cruise economy on the local economy, rushing headlong into the development of cruise home port.The academic literature study on the cruise also gradually increased, but most of the studies are from the perspective of cruise economy, proposed construction of cruise home port, the importance of the development of the cruise industry, the research on cruise tourism subject is relatively insufficient. At present, the main project of Qingdao cruise home port wharf has been finished and passed the acceptance, the international passenger transport center began trial operation in May 2015, Qingdao cruise tourism faces a good development opportunity.A questionnaire of cruise cognition was designed based on the literature review and theoretical analys is, and select residents of Qingdao and Jinan as investigation object, then collecte the date based on field surveys and online payment, and used SPSS statistical analysis method to analyze the collected data, and summarized the domestic residents’ cruise cognition and the limiting factors in purchase decisions, and accordingly put forward some development strategies for the Qingdao cruise products.By analyzing the data, study found that awareness of the current market for cruise tourism is relatively low, the cruise tourism as a new thing has not entered public life, even heard of or participated in the cruise tourism, their level of understanding is very limited, in the near future cruise tourism has not yet become the travel option, time and cost are the main factors which hinder them from participating cruise tourism, it also shows that the development potential of Qingdao cruise tourism market is huge, the market demand need to be excavated. Based on this, combining with the demographic characteristics, the differences of cruise tourism cognition and limiting factors are analyzed, different characteristics of the respondents in the different dimens ions of cognitive dimensions and limiting factors appeared differences. Finally according to the research, the suggestions of cultivation of Qingdao cruise tourism market were put forward, and some specific development proposals about promotion, design and sales of cruise product were proposed.
