The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road(The Belt and Road) Initiative indicates the great practice of China’s Reform and Opening Up Policy has entered a new stage. The Initiative has changed the development model of China’s export, from comodities to capital and technology, which means that during the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese enterprises will face multiple challenges that more than commodity trade stage. Among all the risks, the credit risk is so high that the export credit insurance is in urgent need.Nowadays, export credit insurance has some limitations in institutional setting, and product design, which make it hard to fully assist the enterprises in risk management, market development and financing.Based on such siuation, the thesis takes thorough analysis on credit risk along The Belt and Road region by using data comparison and logical deduction methodology. Then it describes the current situation of China’s export credit insurance and takes international comparative research. Based on the previous analysis, it proposes some recommendations for further improvement of export credit insurance mechanism to support The Belt and Road Initiative.
