Changshu, as a modern port city, has been building her port since 90s last century. Although Changshu port is not opened for a long time, it is developing quickly on a high level, and entered the first ten inland port in 2000 with its great throughput. Changshu port has been built in a certain extent at present. It owns Xinhua the first and second-stage construction berths, with the multifunction of load and unloads, storage, chansfer, trade, and Changshu plant coal berth, Huarun petroleum berth, UPM paper mill berth. Xinhua the third-stage construction is being built now. Changshu port is authorized to open for foreign ships.Changshu port develops fast, it exists some problems in the same time. Firstly the berth tonnage is too small to meet the need with the large-scale ships, secondly the berth function is not so specific as to influence load and unload efficiency, etc. Recently Jiangsu Province Council put forward a new developing plan and appeared JIANGSU GENERAL DEVELOPING PLAN ALONG THE RIVER. In this paper, the author work over on Changshu port overall layout in order to make use of the port advantage, promote Changshu economic development, and open the riverfront scientific.Part one, analyzed the Yangtze Delta port function and the area economic developing trend, evaluated the integration of the area port developing element, estimated the necessary to develop Changshu port.Part two, according to the berths and throughput of Changshu port, with a purpose of developing the national economy, the paper forecasts the future port throughput, and offers reference of Changshu riverfront plan.Part three, make Changshu riverfront plan based on the port throughput forecasting, put forward the developing countermeasure.
