Smes Learn The Proxy Mechanism And Organizational Learning Performance

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are playing an important role in global economy, which has raised the inspirations of both researchers and practitioners. Organization learning has been the mainly resource from which the SMEs gain their competitive advantages and the mechanism of learning agent is a critical way that the SMEs learn from the knowledge sources outside the enterprises in the learning process. The SMEs adopt different mechanism of learning agent to learn from different knowledge resources. How to get the needed knowledge for the organization through effective patterns of learning agent and handle with the issues in the development of SMEs is a valuable issue for the theoretical research. Our intention is to encourage the learning action of the learning agent in the SMEs and build a knowledge platform for the growth and development of the SMEs.As the foundation of the research, the paper starts from discussing the meaning of the mechanism of the learning agent, defines the conception of learning agent and analyzes the components. Then the paper suggests that the mechanism of the learning agent is a two-phrase process, with three patterns of the learning agent in the first phrase and two pattern of the second learning in the second phrase. A case was offered to prove the theory mentioned above.Next the paper analyzed the inherent principle of the mechanism of learning agent, as well as the principle of knowledge transformation according to each phrase. And then we discussed about the factors that influent the mechanism of learning agent in the level of entrepreneurs, SMEs and government. Based on the theory discussed before, the paper proposed a conceptual model. In the chapter 6 with the questionnaires gathered from the SMEs in Hangzhou, Fujian and Hubei, the model was proved to be reasonable to some extent.Finally based on the investigation above, the paper offered a couple of suggestions on how to learn from the knowledge resources outside the SMEs through the learning agent at the level of entrepreneurs, SMEs and government.
