Workplace learning is not a new thing, it shows its fresh face and has become the new trend of human resources development. The aim of this article is to make theoretical analysis of workplace learning based on case studies, and then provides us some suggestions for reference.The study includes six parts:ChapterⅠintroduces the social background of the workplace learning .As the industrial economy developed to a knowledge-based economy gradually, international competition become increasingly fierce. The economic changes caused the changes the mode of production from large-scale production to high-performance production. High-performance requires enterprises to learning constantly. But traditional human resources development can't meet this requirement. Thus workplace learning has become a new trend to develop human resources because of its advantages.ChapterⅡanalyzes the new characters of workplace learning. The workplace learning is not a new thing, why does it become a new trend for human resources development today? The author introduces some theoretical and practical research from developed countries to prove it .By comparison with traditional ways of learning, author further the demonstration. ChapterⅢtries to outline the workplace learning on the basis of the previous chapter. Firstly, the author introduces the ways of workplace learning, such as action leaning, situated learning, accidental learning and experiential learning. Then sums up the major elements of the workplace learning.ChapterⅣanalyzes the principles of workplace learning .Firstly, the author tries to prove their rationality from the perspective of adult learning. Secondly, the author presents a historic model to show the basic elements of workplace learning and their mutual connections. Finally, the author discusses the knowledge characteristics of workplace learning to demonstrate legitimacy as courses.ChapterⅤdemonstrates the advantages of workplace learning by comparison of formal learning and informal learning and brings forward the limitations of workplace learning. Finally the author proposes how to integrate other training methods to overcome its shortcomings and play its positive role.The main innovation of this thesis lies in : 1) to give the systemic introduction of workplace learning in theory and practice. (2) to make the further analysis and interpretation of workplace learning from the adult learning and informal learning perspective.(3) to bring forward some suggestions for human resources of China's enterprises based on the study.
