The analysis frame of employment on social capital is a new research avenue which provides a new perspective to better understand the internal causes of social development. Relevant experience and research on social capital in China mainly focus on the disadvantaged groups with lower manpower capital, and they seldom pay close attention to college students with higher manpower. So, for a long time people have been thinking that college students are special groups of higher education. According to the general understanding, they have more manpower capital than others, which is composed of their own qualifications, knowledge, skills and so on. Therefore, what really accounts is the manpower capital while they are looking for a job. With the unceasingly development of market economy and the employment system, social capital, which is the social networks and the information networks of the college students , plays an increasingly visible role, and it also determines their competitive ability in looking for a job. But what a role does it play? This is the core question about which this thesis concerns.This article first begins from the sociological perspective, combining the theory of social capital of the domestic and international scholars, teases out the conception of social capital theory with Chinese characteristics and the research significance. Moreover it introduces the social capital into the analysis frame of employment, proposing the composition model of college students' social capital, and tries to summarize and prove its content. Then on the basis of statistical investigation and case interview, it analyzes college students' understanding and using of social capital. On this foundation, it proves the function, impact and some obvious problems of the influence on employment of the relationship capital, organizational capital, and the public capital of the college student. Then the article analyzes the function environment and the function mechanism of the social capital of college students. Finally, The author draws such conclusions as follows: (1) The college student utilize imbalance of social capital; (2) The function of the social capital in college students obtaining job is obvious for the first time; (3) Social capital has certain limitations and negative effects; (4) the overall strength composed of the social capital, qualification, and the ability has an important influence on college students' first job, even it would decide their development pattern in their forthcoming life.
