The new year tolls 2005 were accompanied by the abolition of quota system in world textile trade and from then on this business had entered a post-quota era. But the retreat of quotas over textile products did not bring trade frictions to an end. The Sino-American textile trade has taken on new forms of frictions such as what it is called raid of market, export barriers, anti-dumping and product-specific safeguard measures directed at Chinese textile products which in real terms restricted Chinese textile trade to a quota in a quota-free times and posed new challenges upon our textile trade. This essay thoroughly studies the problems of Sino-American textile trade friction in a post-quota era and promptly puts forward corresponding counter-measures.This essay consists of six parts. The first part introduces the relation between quota and trade frictions as well as the significance and status quo of the research on Sino-American trade friction. The second and third part analyses the frictions over textile trade between China and the U.S. in the quota era and post-quota era respectively, and concludes different features of friction in the two eras. The fourth part raises the existing problems and challenges posed upon the textile trade of our country in the post-quota era. The fifth part focuses on examples to prove the influence of the friction on stock-market-listed textile companies, and further probes for the in-depth cause of the trade frictions. The sixth part brings forward positive and active counter-measures and policy-oriented recommendations specific to each type of frictions. This research combines theory and facts, as well as quality and quantity in terms of methodology. The theoretical research employs the means of comparative study, exploring the status quo and features of Sino-American textile trade friction in quota era and post-quota era respectively, hence exposes and examines the problems existing in our textile trade; The fact study, with qualitative and quantitative analysis methods combined, statistically analyses the influence of those frictions on the listed companies in both countries, and consequently digs out the root cause of the frictions. The last part of this paper recommends corresponding measures to tackle the frictions.
