Product strategy is the foundation of the corporate overall strategy for hi-tech companies. Scientific product management is one of the most effective ways to realize it. The key of the product management is to match corporate capabilities to market requirements and to convert the core competence of companies into the products to meet customers'demands. This paper gives a full process analysis of product management for hi-tech firms through a case study on Wanfang Data Co. Ltd.In the essay, a brief introduction towards DOC (Dissertation of China) products of Wanfang Data and the domestic market situation is presented. Furthermore, the formulation of the market strategy is described. Besides, the markets and marketing situation of DOC products are analyzed. The outer opportunity and threaten is exposed through analysis of DOC, such as the analysis and the forecast of the demands of the markets and the market competing environment. The advantages and disadvantages also are presented clearly.
