The functional detergent has become more and more popular in the market. The color offabric would become faded during washing and drying. People used to throw away the fadedgarments and buy the new one, resulting in an invisible waste. In this thesis, a deepeningfunctional detergent (Color HDL), which contains a kind of cationic organic silicon polymer(Vivo), was used as a comparative detergent to the Tide, to investigate the deepenting effect ofcotton fabtic during home laundering. The investigation may be as the consideration for thedevelopment of deepening functional detergent.The experiment of home Laundering showed that Vivo had a good deepening effect to allcotton fabrics used in this thesis. The deepening degree increased with the laundering cyclesincreasing and the deepening laundering had smaller effect on the hue change of the fabricthan the common laundering. According to the data of SEM and Hydrophilic function offabrics, cationic polymer (Vivo) formed a hydrophobic layer on the surface of cotton fabricafter deepening laundering.In order to further study the relationship between the adsorption of Vivo on the fabric andthe deepening degree. This paper took Vivo as the research object, trying to test the adsorptionof Vivo onto the different kind of finishing cotton fabrics at different temperature. There wasonly a week shoulder peak at the wavelength of250nm after using UV spectra, so around250nm was chosen as quantitative analysis of Vivo in this paper. At270nm, the relative UVabsorption was more sensitive and the relative coefficient R2was up to0.99. Therefore, thestandard working curve between the mass concentration and adsorption was established. Theresults showed that the adsorption amount of Vivo on all cotton fabrics used in this thesis wasmuch higher, when the mass concentration of Vivo was under2500mg/L, the adsorptionamount was proportional to the mass concentration of solution. The adsorption amount of Vivoonto hydrophobic fabrics was much higher than hydrophilic fabrics.The deepening effect was evaluated for different kind of finishing cotton fabrics (dyeingand without dyeing) used in this thesis. It showed that the hydrophobic fabrics had a better deepening effect than hydrophilic fabrics. The fabrics after silicone finishing had a significantdeepening effect. The weight of element Si had increased onto blank cotton fabric surface afterdeepening laundering. The cotton fabrics after deepening laundering were softer and smootherthan the ordinary home laundering.The study shows that cationic polymer (Vivo) is easily adsorbed onto cotton fabric and itforms a hydrophobic film on the surface of cotton fabric after deepening laundering. Thehydrophobic fabrics have a good deepening effect after using deepening detergent. The cottonfabrics have a good softness and smoothness handing after deepening laundering.
