Computer-supported collaborative design has become the trend of product development. Collaborative design process is essentially such a process that product developers make various decisions based on their own knowledge, experience and environment information, so conflicts are inevitable that will block design process. In order to solve these problems, the paper researches decision support techniques in collaborative design environment.Decision support techniques mainly include conflict detection, conflict resolution and decision evaluation. The study of this paper mainly focuses on these three areas.The paper proposes a collaborative optimization algorithm to discover the conflict. When conflict detected, the designers make use of knowledge-based conflict resolution approach to resolve design conflicts. For selecting the best option, a single designer utilizes individual evaluation method, while group designers utilize group evaluation method.According to above theories, the paper develops a decision support system prototype for collaborative design based on the Agent technique, KQML communication technique, ActiveX component and Winsock control. Finally, the article gives out an application example of the system.
