As the increasing of the car driving demand for comfort, automatic transmission has been actively developed. According to the national conditions of China, as AMT is developed on the traditional manual transmission, and does not need big changes to the original gearbox, with a good inheritance. Therefore, AMT has a broader development prospects.The clutch engagement control is one key technologie of the AMT design. This paper analyzes some typical control strategies found that they still have some limitations. They can't solve the two conflicts, one is between the streamlined and comprehensive, and the other is between the control real-time target and accuracy of contradictions.This paper analyzes t the clutch engagement and its characteristics, and in accordance with the diaphragm spring load-deformation characteristic of the pressing force and the relationship between the deformation and displacement, and analyzes the dynamic relationship between AMT's clutch system, and establishes the dynamic model of the clutch. By integrated the reasonable points of the typical control strategies, we use fuzzy control theory to establish the fuzzy rules of the driver's intention and the speed of the engagement. We select the jerk and the engine speed to optimize the target speed of the engagement, calculating the speed of optimized engagement parameters on the overall goal of optimizing value. Thus, establish a best clutch control strategy.Using MATLAB/Simulink to establish the clutch model, the engine model and the best clutch control model, and achieving the four main conditions of the simulation found that the optimal control strategy compared with the typical control strategies, the average of the maximum jerk is reduced by lm/s3, the average engagement time is reduced by 0.2s. The results confirmed that the best control strategy can make the car start fast and smooth, reducing clutch wear.In order to verify the rationality of the simulation results and the correctness of the simulation model, four main conditions of the vehicle tests are conducted. The test results show that t the optimal control better than the typical control,it let the jerk of the average maximum is reduced by 0.75m/s3, the average engagement time is shorten by 0.225s. The results proved that the results of the test are consistent with the simulation's results.
