In recent years, the cold-formed steel structural system has been widely applied in Europe. America and Japan, especially in low-rise villa, residential buildings and other civil architectures. Owing to its series of advantages including low weight, short period. environmental protection, high anti-earthquake duration and being under the background of Ministry of Construction carrying forward housing industrialization vigorously, the domestic enterprise began to use this system. Considering that the situation and circumstances in China are much different from that in developed countries, the research on the field of mechanics of cold-formed steel structural system is different.The current codes and skills can't meet the need of design and construction, because the study on stressed skin diaphragm is on the starting stage. So it is vital to do the research of stressed skin diaphragm.In this paper, at the engineering background of BNBM, the thesis takes the research of the mechanics of cold-formed steel structural system as the main object, and the author selectively analyzes the theory of stressed skin diaphragm. The main researches to do are as follows:Firstly, reviewing the progress and current situation of cold-formed steel structural system, and giving it a comprehensive evaluation.Secondly, giving a deeply discussion on the stressed skin diaphragm of plate and wall, and analyzing the wall "skin effect" to explore, the design method, details, and principles of failure.Thirdly, establishing three dimensions finite mode for bearing test.Fourthly, analyzing the impact of skin effect of various factors, including skin thickness, skin material prosperity and self-tapping, self-during screw pitch, based on combination of wall structure and skin panel the finite element model,Fifth, using finite element model for buckling analysis for structure with non-skin panels to compare the structure, finding the skin effect can contribute to the rigidity and reducing distortion.At last, based on the existing theoretical and experimental study of low-rise cold-formed steel system, a performance-based seismic design approach of cold-formed steel system for multi-storey is put forward.
