Study On Gable Tilting Mechanism And Preventive Measures Of Adobe Buildings

Adobe building, it simply refers to the buildings which is built with adobe blocks without calcination but only simple be processed, roasted. In China, adobe building is an important part of adobe architectures.Adobe architecture as a major form of traditional houses for thousands of years, is wisdom of Chinese working people, in the times with the pursuit of the harmonious development of nature and society, it is known as "green building", "low-carbon buildings." For a long time, adobe building with its natural, healthy, environmental protection, ecological advantages, as well as the economic advantages of low cost, in the vast rural areas, especially in economically underdeveloped areas are still widely used.Although adobe buildings have many ecological advantages, but the adobe blocks and adobe masonry structure's own properties is too low, it is easy to produce a variety of damages in normal use and under earthquake, such as the wall in the load cracking, crisping under local pressure, the whole surface of the wall under seismic tilted or completely collapsed, so that the safety of adobe construction is concerned.In a large number of field research of adobe buildings,it is found that, most of the adobe wall of the connection between the housing aspect are not properly handled; in the role of horizontal seismic force of the earthquake process, the wall connection is also a seismic weakness, and thus, under the earthquake the wall is prone to tilting; the wall after tilting to the visual flash gives a sense of insecurity, with the growth over time, the magnitude of the wall will be more inclined large, leading to the collapse of the entire piece of wall, thereby endangering the safety of the entire building.Given the tendency of the adobe building gable there exzist big vacancies, the paper with support of the national "Eleventh Five-Year" Technology Support Program Project (subject code:2006BAJ04A02-01), conducted the following studies:(1) In this paper, through field research in Xinyang County, digging the traditional adobe building construction techniques, analyzing the structural performance of traditional adobe architecture, summarizing the common quality defects of adobe buildings, and the causes of destruction of adobe buildings from the summary of the actual observations;(2) In this paper, this adobe wall tilting which is the common destruction form of building is analysised in-depth and with theoretical research, through the quantitative analysis process, summarise the mechanism of adobe building wall tilting and the main factors of walls flash dump, provide a theoretical basis for reinforcement for adobe flash dump walls.(3) The tendency for common wall tilting control measures were reviewed, and learn from people dealing with the traditional method of flash dump walls, refer to the existing masonry structure and the practice of specification pilasters, pilaster against the wall by Rotary body tilting flash of reinforcement, and through theoretical analysis to study the help of the reinforced wall pilasters pour flash effect.
