Railway transportation is the backbone of traffic transportation in our country and the artery of national economy, promoting the development and construction of economy. With the increasing investment in building railway, railway construction is in the golden age. With the development of high-speed railway network and electrization transform, railway network will cover more than 110,000km till 2012. How to improve the reliability of railway network will become an important subject in the programming and construction of road net.The study of complex network has become a hot spot in home and abroad. It's basic theory and research methods are helpful for solving problems in various systems and networks. Railway network is so typical in complex network that its reliability affects directly the function of railway. However, there are few bibliographies about the study of reliability of railway network based on the theory of complex network. So it's significant to further this study.The topological structure of railway network has impact on its reliability. This thesis firstly analyses the statistical property of the topological structure from complex network. According to the specialty of railway network, two complex network models are built: geography network model based on geographical environment and transportation network model based on trains operation. In this thesis, models'degree distribution, shortest path length, clustering coefficient and betweenness are calculated. It proves that geography network model belongs to small-world network and transportation network model belongs to scale-free network. This thesis also makes analysis on railway network models from two attacks in complex network- random attack and selective attack and takes advantage of overall efficiency of network to judge the reliability of railway network. Based on the reality of railway network, this paper investigates the factors affecting reliability of railway network whose definition is also provided. Assessment model of railway network reliability based on accessibility is built to deal with the specialty of traveling time of railway. At last, this paper verifies the availability of this model through an example of paralyzed railway network caused by continuing snow and freezing weather in the south in 2008.
