With the rapid development of economy,the volume of trade between countries increased significantly,increasing prevalence of container transportation is the product in this environment. The increase of container traffic has brought unprecedented opportunities for port management, however, the ship docked time in the port is the key factor restricting the cost, so that the ship company requires residence time for the ship stays in the port as short as possible, it's a huge challenge for the port. In order to cope with the challenge, if only reduces the time of operation by adding equipments, this will greatly increase the port investment cost, it should strengthen the existing port resources management. Consequently, it's particularly important for the port's overall handling resources optimizing study.First, this paper introduced the container wharf handing equipment configuration optimization research background and meaning, summarized the current domestic and international situation form the shore handling and horizontal transportation, yard handling, the whole port's resources optimize respectively, and introduced the relevance basic concepts and theories in detail. Then the paper defined handling equipments which were involved in the three different links of apron, horizontal transportation, container yard, and describes the common handing process. This paper studies a system which uses shore skip and transportation of container, field bridge pile handing technology. Using Arena simulation software established the system simulation model, then the model made special value validation and constant verification, and then proved the model is correct and corresponded to the physical model through minutely checking. The biggest advantage of this model is that it is applicable to any one used this kind of handling process port. In this premise running the model, the paper analyzed the simulation results, and sought to meet certain equipment utilization and minimum of equipment operation time for optimal allocation quantity by using OptQuest. According to the OptQuest, the paper found all the feasibility scene and wharf requirements, and finally confirmed handling time and equipment utilization condition minimum quantity of equipment. This conclusion overthrew the experience value for the ratio of 1:2:6 among the gantry cranes and field bridge, integrating card , in the condition of resources utilization satisfy wharf request, the resources quantity were reduced significantly ,the port investment cost were reduced ,at the same time the customer satisfaction was improved. This paper mainly embodies the innovation points in the following three aspects:(1) Research scope of innovation. This paper of container wharf handling equipment configuration optimization research were based on previous studies, and got rid of single handling equipment limitations, analyzed the whole port handling form three aspects in detail, optimized and improved the whole of container handing system.(2) Research content of elongation. This paper using Arena simulation software for container handling of three processes established integrated simulation model, at the same time faced to the three kinds of handling resources, embodied the handling process seamless connection. Compared with the existing research, this paper was not only to evaluate the system, but also to optimize on the base of evaluation. This study was more comprehensive, and it enriched theory research .in the wharf container handling equipment optimization in simulation field.(3) Modeling method of innovation. From modeling method was concerned, this paper analyzed three kinds of handling resources in detail, and established the reasonable conceptual model, applied workstations and path method to the model for the first time, the paper enriched modeling method.
