The Overall Analysis Of Architectural Idea Competition And Working System

For almost a century, architecture idea competition has separated from the architecture competition for construction, and eventually has grown into a mature system. Idea competition not only provides opportunity for the growth of designers and students, while expands the extension of architecture. Throughout the western countries and regions whose architectural culture is well developed, there will be a large number of excellent idea competitions.Since the reform and open policy brings out the exchanging of ideas with foreign countries, idea competition has been greatly developed, and thus architecture education and design have also been promoted. But the domestic idea competitions start late and there is also a long way for us to go.This paper will give an overall view of the history and development of idea competition in the near century, and try to analyze idea competition in three sections panoramically. The first section describes the operating mode, the procedure and the history of idea competition, in order to find the similar and differences between competitions at home and abroad. The second section focuses on the characteristics and classification of idea competition. The third section will describe the competition proposition and the theme changes from the perspective of those who hold the competition. The fourth section will focus on features and express methods of the creative works, especially on the working system and the way of thinking in the perspective of the participants, taking some well-known competition as examples. The paper collected a lot of idea competition information, including the themes and works of the competition from the fifties in last century till now, to show the reader an overall view of the idea competitions.
