The Analysis On The Spatial Cognition Of The Ancient Villages' Trade Space In Their Evolvement

Ancient villages, which have a long history, are less affected by external factors but mainly driven by their internal factors in a relatively long period of the time evolving. The phases of their production, development and decay are self-organized, which is the epitome of the ancient town evolution and development in China. However, with the development of tourism in these old villages, the traditional producing model of agriculture in towns is changing to agricultural-commercial form. The most important factor in this conversion process is the increasing commercial activities, such as tourists living, eating and shopping, which need hotels, restaurants and craft shops.The locations of these commercial spaces are chosen by the factors such as the accessibility for tourists, easy to distinguish and communicate. In this study, the space structure of the old village is the major subject for the research. Through comparing the analysis of ancient villages'spatial structure and the location of commercial space, analyzing the space in the ancient village development process, we can conclude the relationship between the special properties and the functions. We also can analysis the predictability and feasibility of the commercial spaces in the old villages. This study is not only the guidance for the planning of the old villages but also having critical meaning for the special analysis.We take the Xidi, Hongcun and Furong three villages as the subject to study, use the space syntax to analyze the changes of the space structure and attribute the relationship between the function of the buildings and features of the space.This study has three phases. Firstly, the current situations of these old villages are studied for finding out the problems in them. The necessarily and feasibility of the developing in tourism and commerce are indicated. Secondly, by the analysis for the characters of commercial space of Chinese ancient cities in the development, the internal regulation of the option for commercial space can be gotten. Finally, with the software, space syntax to analyze the three examples, we can conclude the relationship between building functions and space features is really exist. The relationship is that during the development of the ancient villages, the characters of the space are always related to the development orientation of the functions.
