Along with the development of urbanization during recent years, housing estate accounts for comparatively large proportion in real estate projects. As for different types of housing buildings, there would be various choices of available structural systems. However, the question that which one is the most reasonable and economical system is always a bone of contention in this industry. Firstly, this article selects one built house type and then compares the overall aseismatic performance as well as analyses the parameters including period of free vibration, shape of vibration,vibration displacement,storey shear to gravity,axial pressure ratio of critical vertical members and etc of three kinds of structural systems. Secondly, three representative conditions in real structure projects comprising multi-storey building (6-storey), medium-rise building (11-storey) and high-rise building (25-storey) are chosen for the purpose of comparing the quantity of usage of steel and concrete as well as carrying out the economic analysis.By summarizing the force condition of the structures, the ranges of the properly heights and storeys for each type of structural system in practical projects can be worked out. Also, quantitatively analysis of the economic indicators for different types of residential buildings is conducted through comparison of economic indicators. Lastly, the conclusion of which kind of structures with different height can be not only in safe, but economical will provide more scientific inclusions for choosing the proper structural system correctly.
