In recent years, due to the rapid development of China's automobile industry, there are more and more electrical and electronic functions in the car now. Design and development of automotive electrical and electronic architecture is quite a huge task, involving software, hardware, networking, wiring harness and other specific expertise.PREEvision is a professional development tool used to implement concept design for electrical and electronic architecture. The biggest purpose of this tool is modeling in different levels for the vehicle electrical and electronic architecture.This paper first reviews the basic concepts of automotive electrical systems, and which involves in the design of electrical and electronic architecture, such as automotive wiring harness, terminals, cables, fuses, CAN bus, made a more detailed introduction.Then we introduced the model-based design process for vehicle electrical and electronic architecture. During the electrical and electronic systems development process, lots of job will be involved such as the design functional requirements, network design, logic design, schematics design, and harness design and so on. There are many people from different departments or project teams will join in. In order to achieve multi-team development process in parallel the rational division of labor and cooperation, the design of electrical and electronic architecture should start with layered design ideas. During the model based development process, it requires constant evaluation and optimization, and ultimately the best design will be chosen.The PREEvision concept development tool plays a key role in the Delphi Tool Suite. The tool unifies all basic data from the customer as well as the Global Data Backbone and is the optimal environment for a detailed analysis and evaluation of different architectural draft designs. After the requirements level has been defined or imported, the next step is to describe functions and their relationships abstractly before distributing them to the network level. ECUs, networks with their various bus systems and sometimes very complex power supply systems are described here. On the subsequent schematic level, the level of detail is further refined with electrical circuit diagrams. A core competency of Delphi is the physical level. Here, the interplay of power distribution modules, body controllers, sensors and actuators is developed into a complete network with the help of pins, connectors, in-line connectors and seals. Finally, the vehicle topology defines the locations of the sectioning points and the layout of the wire harness and possible assembly. The results are iteratively optimized and checked with simulation tools.During the development process of project D1XX, Delphi assumed the electrical and electronic architecture design and research responsibilities. We used reference models into modeling, management and application variables, obtained the most appropriate models of electrical and electronic architecture, greatly shorten the development cycle.Combined long-term automotive electrical and electronic design experience with electrical and electronic architecture development tool PREEvision, we found a set of new methods for electrical and electronic architecture the development.
