Crane is a efficient transport machinery which was started and braked frequently. Its working conditions often changing. With the development of industry, people are needing higher efficiency requirements for cranes, which made the dynamic behavior of the crane higher requirements. The traditional method of crane design is based on a static load. The dynamic load coefficient method was often used to solve the dynamic problem of the cranes. When the dynamic problem of the cranes was considering by this is:multiplied by a dynamic load factor which greater than 1 to static load. And this method can not meet modern design requirements any more.This thesis take the BMH10 semi gantry crane as the subject of research. The static and dynamic characteristics of the crane were analyzed by ANSYS software. And the following works were mainly completed:1. A few semi-gantry crane design features were introduced, and the finite element model was built by ANSYS software, then used the crane dynamics theory to build the dynamic model of the semi-gantry crane;2. In accordance with the actual conditions on the finite element model boundary conditions, the stress and strain of the semi-gantry crane which was under different conditions were obtained, and the top ten order modes states and its corresponding vibration mode of semi-gantry crane were analyzed;3. The load on the middle of the main bar was considered in this thesis. The load suddenly lifted off the ground is a very representative working condition. The dynamic response of the main beam was obtained by transient finite element software analysis. The displacement and velocity and acceleration in the vertical direction of the main beam response curve was obtained, and the results are analyzed, but also to validate the theory.The analysis results showed that the design of semi-gantry crane was reasonable, and also helpful for the future development of similar equipments. It can provide reference for the container crane design.
