Architectural Context Construction Basic On Typology Research

The using of Typology as architectural design methods is not a new idea. But after the modernism trend appeared, the using of Typology in architectural design area had been endowed with a new meaning. Especially in the case of absence of local features in architectural design, Typology was recommended as a positive method to solve the problem today. In order to let architectural design rooted in the local culture and background when the urban construction develop so fast in China, we are trying to expressed the meaning and application of Typology design method clearly and make a particular research about it.This paper is introduced with the concept and research object of Typology, and then take the related theory and research achievements in advantage to reveal the essence of Typology and prove that Typology is consistent with context construction. In chapter 3 and 4, the progress of architectural design basic on Typology is separated into two parts. One is"archetype extraction"and the other is"application of type". The way of archetype extraction can be various , such as extracting from folk tradition,original architecture,environment characteristics,art works and so on. In Chapter 3, the rule and characteristics of archetype extraction is discussed ; In Chapter 4 , application of type is divided into three areas——space,fa?ade and geometry. The main content of forth Chapter is discussing the characteristics of the three areas. And Chapter 5 raises the elevation standard of the effect of the using of Typology.The adaptability of Typology and the demand of urban construction make Context Construction basic on Typology feasible. This paper is trying to arouse the consciousness of the public and build up the theory of Context Construction basic on Typology. Through the work above , idea of Context Construction will be expanded and design method will be more various.
