The Integrated Navigation System (INS) based on the performance evaluation and optimization design has many advantages such as advanced performance, better technical performance, reasonable research expense. Especially, the current military thinking has changed greatly, and the military confrontation has developed from weapons to equipment system, which requires us to further improve the performance of the Integrated Navigation System. Therefore, To research the performance evaluation of Integrated Navigation System and ensure it reliable performance is of great significance.This paper is concentrated on Marine Integrated Navigation System (MINS). Firstly the performance evaluation development and achievement of INS are presented; Combined with INS, the MINS principle are introduced in detail. The theoretical basis of kalman filtering - Bayesian filter estimation is introduced and the standard kalman filter algorithm is detailed introduced. The most attention is paid to Extended Kalman Filtering (EKF). State equations and observation equations of GPS/INS (Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System) integrated mode are established on the foundation of the research.Secondly, the selecting method and principles of the evaluation index system are studied, and the advantages and disadvantages of various methods are introduced. The Delphi method which has the both advantages of expert individual judgment and expert conference is emphasized. The MINS evaluation index system is achieved based on Delphi method and cluster analysis. The qualitative and quantitative analysis method is confirmed through analyzing the INS structure characteristics.Finally, the quantitative analysis method of INS evaluation is proposed. Under the background of a certain type of integrated navigation display control platform, the indoor simulation experiments are done in the laboratory environment. The quantitative evaluation based on the mathematical statistics analysis is completed. The result shows the validity of this method. Combined with the INS structure characteristics, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to assess the qualitative factors. On the basis of the method, the AHP evaluation algorithm model is established. At the same time the qualitative indexes of the integrated navigation display control platform are evaluated. To solve the realization of the proposed evaluation method, the performance evaluation platform of the INS is designed based on the modular theory and software engineering knowledge.
