With the development of automotive technology, traditional peer-to-peer communication method has been unable to meet the developing requirements of automotive electronic control equipment and data communications. Furthermore ,more and more switches adopted in the body accessories are the main factors to complicate the layout of harness in a vehicle.Based on this background, CAN bus technology has been widely applied in automotive field.Insteading of the traditional cable relay control mode for the control technique of bus body, it has been gradually developed the control mode based on bus technology.Controller Area Network (CAN) is a kind of serial communication network which supports the distributed control or the real time control .CAN bus, as a serial bus, has the advantages of simple structure, mature technology, high performance and high reliability. On the basis of understanding the basicconcepts, the paper introduces the details on CAN node, hierarchical structure of the agreement, technical specifications, frame structure and so on. Aiming at the condition of ordering production of bus and the problem of existing flexibility and versatility in the system of bus body, a kind of configurable IO control module of bus body based on the CAN bus has been designed .Then it analyzes the hardware design and software design of the system. This paper introduces the principle of hardware and software design, describes the specific implementing measures of the control module,validates the availability after completing the simulation and test of the system.Compared with the current IO control module of bus body, The configurable IO control module has the same hardware platform and basis sofrware. The function of contolling different automobile body equipments can be realized for each of the control module by means of configurating different parameter files and downloading the parameter file to the corresponding control module. It makes the system has the function of flexibility and commonality and can be used in different automotive modules .It also meets the requirement of different customers and is convenient to provide after-sale service and management .At the same time ,it can meet the practical need of the control system better.
