In cold winter, switches can not nomally transit because of snow and ice, which directly affected the rail transportation safety. The traditional method of clearing switch-sonw wastes more manpower and material resources, which can not adapt to the rapid development of modern railway. The system of switch snow-melting can melt snow and ice by heating switches automatically to ensure the normal operation of the switch from the weather. Thus, the efficient and automated system of switch snow-melting is imperative.By the method of electromagnetic induction heating incorporated with PLC control technology, this paper designs a set of new energy-efficient switch snow-melting system. Structure and composition of the switch snow-melting system are introduced firstly, according to the workflow, the whole system is divided into information collection subsystem and monitoring subsystem, hardware and software are designed, and the paper completes information collection and effective transmission in the information collection subsystem, and realizes the configuration design of monitoring subsystem and the communication between the lower machine and host computer.Information collection subsystem uses RY-YX sensor collected rain and snow signal information directly. Rail temperature collection module, consisted of intelligent temperature sensor DS18B20 and singlechip, collect the analog of rail temperature. RS485 serial communication, used between singlechip and PLC, completes the transfer of information between the two subsystem. For the code error of the communication process because of signal interference, the paper uses CRC to realize error checking and simulates the process of the checksum in the process of information transfer. Besides, an improved algorithm and a method of correction are introduced in the paper to improve the check processing effciency.The monitoring subsystem realizes the automation and intelligent heating management of switches. The system uses PLC as the lower machine and the hardware and software of the lower machine are designed. Host computer is designed by MCGS configuration software, realizing the function of human-computer interaction including parameter settings, data query, control mode selection and so on. By multiport serial cards,1:N communication between PC and PLC is realized.For problems of current resistance heating equipment, including long heating time, heat loss and so on, heating module of the system uses a new kind of heating method of electromagnetic induction to heat switches, and this is the innovation of this article. According to the actual needs of the scene, the paper analyzes and compares the characterisitics of vaious circuit, and designs the heat module's main circuit of this system and parameters of the main components. By building heating module, the test has been administered at the railway station.By the test in the station, heating module of the system basically meets the requirements of switch snow-melting system. Compared with the conventional resistance heating, induction heating improves the speed and achieves a certain effect of energy saving. In addition, the installation of the equipment is analyzed and designed. Because of the induction heating, there may be some interference problems which are analyzed in the paper and then the resolvent is proposed.
