Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is a kind of vehicle, which is driven by gas engine and electric machine. Compared with internal-combustion engine vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle has obvious advantages in respect of power, economy, energy conservation and decreasing emission, which becomes a focus at home and abroad. Motor drive system is the core of the hybrid electric vehicle. Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has gradually become the mainstream of HEV drive motors due to its high efficiency, high power density, and great performance in velocity modulation. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to research its drive and control technology.Firstly, the mathematical model of PMSM was set up, and the classical vector control theory and space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technology were also analyzed in this dissertation. Then, a simplified SVPWM method and an improved vector control algorithm with the compensation of deviation decoupling in current loop were proposed on this basis. The simulation model of PMSM with modified vector control system based on the maximum torque-per-ampere (MTPA) strategy was realized with MATLAB/Simulink and the advantages of these improvements were proved by the simulation results. The designs of hardware and software of PMSM controller with TMS320F2812 as its core were mainly introduced in the dissertation. The sensor interface circuits of current and position signals and various parts of the software processes were explained detailedly as well. The assembly structure for the controller was also designed in this dissertation, which meet the automotive environment. The overall design of the PMSM drive system was verified through bench experiment and the corresponding experimental results was given. Finally, in order to meet practicability of the motor drive system in vehicle, the design and develop process of the hybrid electric vehicle were introduced. A great deal of road tests proved the feasibility and reliability of the motor drive system coordinating with vehicle performing.
