Sound waves are carrier which has better transmission performance in the ocean. Acquiring ocean information, underwater target detection and identification, underwater acoustic communication all of these use sound waves for carrier. In many fields of acoustic science and technology such as marine environmental monitoring, underwater acoustic equipment research and test, theoretical study of acoustic, acoustic theory verification, etc, we always need to get continuous sound information for a long time.In this paper, a design of high capacity, continuous signal acquisition, automatic and real-time signals storage system is proposed, which is based on DSP, MSP430 MCU and several of SDHC and MicroSDHC cards. DSP core of the system is responsible for data acquisition and storage, SDHC and MicroSDHC cards are used as memory, FAT32 file system is used as format of storage. MCU takes charge of communication and control. System integrates card reader, so that data can be copyed from USB2.0 interface. In the system, DSP5509A and MSP430 microcontroller are low power consumption, which is helpful to reduce the power consumption of system. SDHC card that satisfies SD2.0 specification is high capacity SD card. It has advantages of high capacity, low power consumption, small size, and low price. The maximum storage capacity of a single card can reach up to 32GB. DSP5509A integrates an on-chip MMC/SD controller, which can interface with the SDHC card directly on the electric circuit. Through bus topology and software control policy, system achieved a multi-card memory design and greatly expanded the system's storage capacity. The design of hardware and software of system was introduced detailedly. Hardware design includes capability of IC, circuit architecture, function.In software part, SD2.0 specification and FAT32 file system specification were introduced simply. The device driver procedure of initialing and identifying SDHC cards and data transmission are presented particularly. Basing on the principle of file system implemention, the program which realizes file system is described.Finally, the parameters of the system are measured. Analysing the test results, paper makes some conclusions for improvement. The system has merits of high storage capacity, low power consumption, high universal ability and easy use. It will have extensive application prospects.
